Lead School for Speech and Language
Hextable is the Lead Secondary School for Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties in the locality. This uses the expertise of our staff who work in our on-site Speech and Language Centre.
Our Speech and Language Centre is a 30 place provision which caters for statemented children whose primary need lies in the area of Speech, Language and Communication. Our philosophy is to integrate our students as far as possible into the mainstream, with the support of trained TAs, whilst providing each child with a carefully structured programme to meet their individual needs. We have 2 specialist teachers in the unit and a speech therapist. We also have our own trained dyslexia specialist, school counsellor, Family Liaison Officer and a range of other support within school. We work closely with our Local Partnership to access any further services that may be required.
As a Lead School we are committed to providing outstanding support to our own students but also through out-reach work and training to support students and staff in other local schools.
Please contact Angela Bunnage (Teacher in Charge), Lynne Barnes (Additional Education Needs Co-ordinator) or Tina Bissett (Deputy Headteacher) for information.
